Transforming lives beyond handouts

Breaking barriers to build brighter futures.

Rescuing and developing vulnerable Maasai girls

Maasai Girls Rescue Center rescues girls from extreme poverty, FGM, and child marriage in Northern Tanzania.

Harmful cultural practices trap vulnerable girls in cycles of poverty with little hope of education or independence. We provide safety and a path forward.

  • Immediate rescue: Safe housing at our 10-acre ecoVillage in Karatu, Tanzania
  • Comprehensive development: Education, healthcare, counseling, vocational training
  • Pathways to independence: Skills and confidence to break poverty cycles and transform harmful practices

We don’t just rescue girls—we equip them to break the cycle of poverty and build independent futures.

Our three-stage development model

Rescue: We provide immediate safety for girls fleeing FGM, child marriage, abuse, or abandonment. Safe housing, medical care, and trauma counseling at our ecoVillage in Karatu, Tanzania.

Educate: Every girl receives quality education and vocational training tailored to her abilities—agriculture, hospitality, business skills, and more.

Empower: We build confidence and independence through hands-on learning, leadership development, and career preparation. Our graduates become self-sufficient women who transform their communities.

How we’re building sustainability

Maasai social enterprise for a brighter future

Most charities use donations to cover both programs AND operational costs. Not Maasai Girls Rescue Center.

We built the Maasai ecoLodge as a social enterprise—a beautiful, eco-friendly lodging experience where profits fund our operations. When guests stay at the ecoLodge, they directly support girls’ development while experiencing authentic Maasai culture.

This means 100% of your donation provides direct care: meals, housing, education, medical care, and training. No administrative overhead. Just pure impact for rescued girls.

Education changes everything

At Maasai Girls Rescue Center, education isn’t just academics—it’s survival. Most of our girls arrive having never attended school. Today, 75% rank in the top 25% of their class. They’re learning English, Swahili, mathematics, computer literacy, and vocational skills that create independence.

Meet the girls whose lives have been transformed by education.

Maasai Girls Rescue has been a joy to support. No hidden agendas here. It is all about the girls.
Rick Morro the founder has built a great team and a committed sponsor base. His support system
in the USA is top notch. No surprises, great communication. A clear vision with passion.
I have referred a number of supporters who love what they do. Happy to help them
any way I can. (Great NonProfits)

I have been a supporter of The Maasai Girls Rescue Center for a few years now. The steps they are taking to be self-sufficient and not need donors in the future, is amazing. Their leader, Rick Morro, is a fine man and has an acute vision for what the Rescue Center can and will be. Please think about supporting one of the girls or making a donation to put the Rescue Center over the top. The girls are being rescued from a life of pain and ignorance. Please consider it. “I sponsor Venosa because I realized my “lot in life” has been significantly determined by the simple fact that I was born in the USA…arguably the richest country in the world. I did nothing to earn this very fortunate situation. Granted I grew up in a great family with loving parents but so much of what was possible for me was because I was born in the USA. Equally the girls at MGRC did nothing to deserve being born into sheer poverty with little to no opportunity. As a sponsor, I can share a little of my good fortune with one other person.”

“I have been involved and made donations to this organization since its inception. All funds go directly to care for these girls. It is an amazing organization, with RESULTS! Very well managed by skilled executives.” (GreatNonProfits)

“We first learned of MGRC from my friend, Joyce. We were really moved by the story of Rick’s efforts. We started by sponsoring a girl last year, and are now going to sponsor an additional girl this year. Rick, we are in awe of all you have done and all of the girls lives you are changing for the better!”

“Joyce and I are the proud sponsors of multiple girls. Rick is truly making a difference in these girls lives that would otherwise suffer or die. When considering all the costs of responsibly raising a girl with an education, Rick has done an outstanding job with very little resources. I have known Rick for years and trust that 100 percent of the money I donate will be put towards raising these girls.”
