With sadness in our hearts, a great friend and donor of MGRC, Gerald Patrick Pinkos aka Gerry, passed away suddenly on June 12, 2022. Gerald spent his 78 years with the same curiosity he had as a child. He lived each day as if it were his last, and his love for history taught him how to move forward to experience new things with the knowledge from the past.
Through all of Gerry and Carol’s travels, the place that captured their hearts and spirits most was East Africa. Their first trip to Kenya and Tanzania in 1975 touched them to their core. Carol said “That experience taught us to appreciate each day with a deep respect for different cultures and a profound connection with the earth’s creatures.”
Gerry and Carol were long time supporters of MGRC and dear friends of some of our board members. They have both been passionate about the plight of the Maasai girls in Africa. Over the years they have helped our organization grow and contributed to our success. We will be honoring our friend and supporter with a dedication of a tree that will live on in his memory on the grounds of our new facility in Tanzania. Any money raised will go towards the setup of the memorial tree and for the Career Center project that Gerry was passionate about. Donations will be matched by one of MGRC’s Board Members.
Isiah 40:31, “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
