In 2017, Maasai Girls Rescue Center began with a simple but powerful mission: to rescue and empower vulnerable Maasai girls. Today, we’re celebrating 10 milestones that wouldn’t have been possible without your unwavering support. Here are the major accomplishments that showcase the real impact of your generosity.
1. Grew from 2 to 16 Girls in Our Care
We started with just two brave girls seeking refuge. Today, we provide safety, education, and hope to 16 girls who now call MGRC home.
2. Built a Team of 4 Dedicated Tanzanian House Mothers
Our girls don’t just receive shelter—they receive maternal love and guidance from four incredible women who serve as their house mothers, providing 24/7 care and emotional support.
3. Secured Strategic Partnership in Longido, Tanzania
We established a vital community-based partnership in Longido Tanzania, allowing us to begin operations while we work toward acquiring our own permanent facilities.
4. Secured Tax-Deductible Donation Status
Through our continued partnership with Friends for African Development in Virginia, we can accept tax-deductible donations, making it easier and more beneficial for supporters to contribute to our mission.
5. Formed an All-Volunteer Board of Champions
Every single board member not only volunteers their time and expertise for free—they also personally sponsor one or more girls at MGRC, demonstrating their deep commitment to our cause.
6. Connected with Unexpected Corporate Champions
A chance reconnection led to partnership with GrowthPoint Inc., whose employees rallied to support our mission and are creating our professional digital presence.
7. Launched Professional Website and Social Media
Thanks to GrowthPoint Inc.’s generous support, we now have a professional website (MaasaiRescue.org) and social media presence to share our story with the world.
8. Successfully Funded Our Dairy Cow Project
Through crowdfunding and individual donations, we raised funds for dairy cows that now provide fresh milk and nutrition for our girls while teaching sustainable farming practices.
9. Established Incorporation in Arizona
MGRC is now officially incorporated as a nonprofit organization in Arizona, providing the legal foundation for our continued growth and impact.
10. Created a Replicable Model for Change
Most importantly, we’ve proven that with community support, dedicated partnerships, and passionate volunteers, we can create lasting change in the lives of vulnerable girls—and we’re just getting started.

These milestones represent just the beginning. Help us reach our next set of goals by donating today, sponsoring a girl, or volunteering with MGRC.

November 6, 2018 at 9:56 amYour analysis is spot on: the best way to change a whole society for the better is to start with the children, especially the girls. Through education (in the broadest sense, empowering them to see their lives as much, much more than powerless childbearing vessels), the girls will soon enough become young women who will bring notions of Justice, Equality and Freedom to the whole society. By taking in the “Least of These”, including albinos, girls escaping FGM and pre-pubescient marriage, or those who suffer other abuses and neglect, you shine God’s Love on them in all of its possibilities. Bless Your Work!
