Celebrating success: A new classroom and more for Kininie School
We are thrilled to announce that the school project, made possible through the generous contributions of many of our supporters, has been successfully completed! The district local chairman, along with other government leaders, attended a celebratory event and formally expressed their gratitude to MGRC for our ongoing support and commitment.
Transforming learning
Earlier this year, we learned that the expansion project at Kininie School, where many of our girls are enrolled, had stalled due to a lack of funding. Overcrowding and a lack of functional bathrooms had created challenging learning conditions, leading to several girls developing urinary tract infections. Students had been forced to stand or sit on each other’s laps due to the lack of space and seating.
Thanks to your donations, we were able to complete the construction of a new classroom, an administration building and bathrooms. The addition of the administration building freed up a classroom, bringing the total to 12 usable rooms. Furthermore, we partnered with a local woodworker to commission 30 new desks for the classrooms. These are in addition to the 30 desks, computer and printer/copier that we donated when we first arrived in the district, adding a significant number of students to their already large student body.
Community partnerships
This project at the local primary school exemplifies the strong partnership between MGRC and the broader community. By funding initiatives that benefit both the girls and the local schoolchildren, MGRC not only supports education that is transforming learning, but also creates jobs and training opportunities for local Tanzanians. This collaborative approach strengthens community ties and fosters long-term sustainability and self-reliance.

MGRC’s positive impact now reaches out into the surrounding community, benefitting not just “our” girls, but all of the students, teachers and administrators of the school – and all of their families. Now hundreds of people have greater opportunities and resources for a better life because of the fantastic work of MGRC. Great news!
