Child sponsorship is at the heart of what we do at MGRC. By becoming a child sponsor, you’re not just providing financial support; you’re offering a lifeline to a child in need. Your sponsorship ensures that these girls receive quality education, nutritious meals, healthcare, and a safe, loving environment. Through letters, Zoom calls, and visits, sponsors can share their lives with the girls, offering valuable insights into different cultures, perspectives, and experiences. These connections can foster personal growth and development.

Currently, we have 7 girls who are in need of a sponsor.

Lilian, 6 y/o

When Lilian was 5 years old her father was making plans to give her away for marriage. She wasn’t attending school. A 17-year-old neighbor, who felt bad about her situation, contacted social welfare in Longido. They conducted an investigation and, in November of 2022, asked us to take her in.

Happyness, 4 y/o, Bahati, 6 y/o, and Rehema, 10 y/o

These three sisters came to us through social welfare in July. Their father passed away in 2019 and their mother has a disability in one leg. Without a home or family to turn to, the family has been living behind a local bar with the mother trying to provide for her family as a sex worker. She was starving herself in order to feed her children, and is quite emaciated. The girls were brought to MGRC by social services, and we are trying to find a way to help the mother, as well.

Vaileth, 4 y/o

Vaileth’s family is very poor and were unable to care for her. She was removed from the home and brought to MGRC by Social Welfare.

Honest and Happiness, 3 y/o

MGRC now has two sets of twins! Honest and Happiness were living with their mother who had an alcohol problem. Their basic needs, such as food and shelter were not being met. There were times that they would be locked alone in the home without food or care. Neighbors reported the situation to the police. After a social welfare investigation, they were taken away from the mother and placed at the Longido Safe House for 9 months. The Social Welfare Officer of Longido then asked MGRC to take over their care in April.

If you would like to change the life of one of these girls, please consider becoming a sponsor.
